Nacido el 26 de junio de 1948, John Frederick Tryon fue el decimocuarto de diecis\u00e9is hijos de Willis y Helen Tryon. Al crecer en Perrysville, Ohio, John se gradu\u00f3 de la escuela secundaria Lucas en 1966 e ingres\u00f3 a los Hermanos de Santa Cruz profesando sus primeros votos en 1967 y sus votos perpetuos en 1975.<\/p>\n
Desde 1970 hasta su muerte, cuando le preguntaron: \u201c\u00bfCu\u00e1l es su ministerio?\u201d \u00c9l respondi\u00f3: \u201cSoy un hermano de Santa Cruz\u201d. Tambi\u00e9n fue alumno, maestro, director de desarrollo y ex alumnos, formador, colega y ciertamente amigo: pero siempre en primer lugar, \u201cSoy un Hermano de la Santa Cruz\u201d. Durante m\u00e1s de cincuenta a\u00f1os, ejerci\u00f3 su ministerio en Boysville of Michigan, LeMans Academy, Holy Trinity High School, St. Joseph High School, y m\u00e1s notablemente en Holy Cross College donde era instructor de literatura desde 2000 hasta 2014. Sus alumnos lo conoc\u00edan como un maestro exigente y muy querido.<\/p>\n
Entonces, en 2014, se ofreci\u00f3 como voluntario para ir a Lima, Per\u00fa, motivado en parte por su meta de toda la vida de aprender a hablar y escribir espa\u00f1ol. Durante casi cinco a\u00f1os en Per\u00fa, gan\u00f3 el cari\u00f1o de la gente de San Juan de Lurigancho. Sirvi\u00f3 primariamente en el Colegio Fe y Alegr\u00eda 25 y tambi\u00e9n acompa\u00f1\u00f3 a muchos grupos de estudiantes y profesores que ven\u00edan desde los Estados Unidos, en experiencias de inmersi\u00f3n y conocimiento de la realidad peruana. En tal vez su contribuci\u00f3n m\u00e1s importante al futuro de Santa Cruz en el Distrito de Chile-Per\u00fa, Hno. John sirvi\u00f3 por dos a\u00f1os como Asistente al Maestro de Novicios en el Noviciado de Huayc\u00e1n. Dos de sus ex novicios est\u00e1n profesando sus votos perpetuos este verano, y otros siguen adelante en formaci\u00f3n inicial en la Congregaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
Despu\u00e9s de varios meses en los Estados Unidos, reconectando con su familia y comunidad all\u00e1, Hno. John regres\u00f3 al Distrito en 2020, esta vez para servir en Chile. A pesar de las restricciones de la pandemia y las cuarentenas, Hno. John encontr\u00f3 varias formas de contribuir a la misi\u00f3n de Santa Cruz en Chile, incluida la asistencia con las traducciones, sirviendo como un apreciado tutor de ingl\u00e9s para los religiosos en formaci\u00f3n y componiendo breves reflexiones b\u00edblicas para las redes sociales. De hecho, unos pocos d\u00edas antes de su muerte, termin\u00f3 la traducci\u00f3n del libro These Two Hearts<\/em> sobre la vida del Hno. Columba O’Neill, C.S.C., escrita por el Hno. Ernest Ryan, C.S.C.<\/p>\n Durante sus a\u00f1os en Chile, Hno. John vivi\u00f3 en Casa Juan XXIII, d\u00f3nde contribuy\u00f3 sus talentos como un cocinero y su don de conversar, especialmente sobre la literatura y la espiritualidad. Fue en su dormitorio en esta casa que Hno. John falleci\u00f3 el domingo 23 de enero de un infarto.<\/p>\n Su funeral en Chile fue celebrado el viernes 28 de enero en la Parroquia San Roque, donde asisti\u00f3 a misas durante su tiempo en Chile.
